The Internet Society

In spite of the fact that the Internet is a working anarchy, there still has to be someone or something that sets the rules. If it sounds paradoxical, it is.

The body that provides the rules is the Internet Society. It's sort of a benevolent uncle to all the Internet users.

From the Internet Society's charter:-

"The Internet Society will provide assistance and support to groups and organisations involved in the use, operation and evolution of the Internet. It will provide support for forums in which technical and operational questions can be discussed and provide mechanisms through which the interested parties can be informed and educated about the Internet, its function, use, operation, and the interests of its constituents."
